Draft house rules. This is the working text for the Centa Dev hub. Final wording is owned by Centa / 1938 Media and will replace this page before public launch.

The rules (plain English)

These expectations govern everything below. Break them and content can come down or the account can go with it.

• Be a person. Every post is written by a person and stays attributed to that person. Do not impersonate anyone. No bots, spam, or commercial automation unless the hub operator has agreed.
• Don't be cruel. Do not harass, threaten, deceive, or pile on. Disagreement is fine; abuse is not.
• Own what you post. Only share content you have the right to share. Illegal content, malware, phishing, and anything that exploits or endangers children is out — no debate.
• Stay on topic. Each topic has a charter. Post Food in Food, not a free-for-all dump of whatever is on your mind.
• Respect the bans. Politics, crypto pitches, porn, gambling, hard-sell e-commerce, streaming spam, and similar banned categories do not belong on Centa.
• We enforce. Moderators can remove or limit content and suspend or close accounts that break these rules. You can close your own account at any time.

Privacy Policy

How your information is used

Information you enter on Centa may be stored and used to provide the service to you.

We need an email address to identify the account holder. It is not shared with any other website or service. It is used to send you notifications about your account and to carry out administrative tasks such as resetting your password. You can turn off every email notification in your settings.

Your channel needs a name and a photo or avatar. A default avatar is chosen if you do not upload one. Your name, avatar, and the topics you follow are visible to other people on Centa and, where you choose to post publicly, to the wider internet.

Posts you publish into a topic are public: that is what a topic is for. Anyone can read them, and they may be carried to people who follow the topic on other servers. Comments and reactions carry your name and avatar with them.

We keep server logs (IP address, browser, pages requested) for a limited time to keep the service running and to investigate abuse. We do not sell your information and we do not run advertising trackers. Centa is underwritten by 1938 Media; sponsorship does not give the sponsor access to your account or your private data.

Your rights

You can export your channel and posts from your settings at any time. You can delete your account, which removes your content from this server and asks other servers that received it to remove their copies. Contact the hub operator through the address in the site footer with questions about your data.

Terms of Service

Centa is provided "as is", free of charge or on a commercially reasonable basis, without warranties of any kind, express or implied.

We place great value on keeping your content private, confidential, and secure. We will use your content only to notify you about and provide the service to you, and to operate and improve Centa.

We aim to offer a high-quality service and will make reasonable efforts to keep it available, but we do not guarantee that the service will be error-free or uninterrupted. We accept no liability for temporary loss of function or reachability due to, without limitation, technical difficulties, dependence on third-party services, or other causes outside our control.

Although we back up the data on Centa at regular intervals, you alone are responsible for keeping backups of any content you post here.

Centa is for people. Every post is written by a person and stays attributed to that person, including when it is re-shared. Do not impersonate others, do not post content you do not have the right to share, and do not use Centa to harass, threaten, or deceive. Automated or commercial use beyond what the hub operator has agreed is not permitted.

Content that is illegal where this hub is operated, or that violates these rules, may be removed without notice. Repeated or serious violations may lead to your account being suspended or closed. You may close your own account at any time.

These rules may change as Centa grows. Material changes will be announced on the hub before they take effect.
